Audiobooks: A Modern Echo of the Past?

Do you remember hearing about radio soap operas? Those beloved shows from the 1940s, 50s, and 60s that our grandmothers, mothers, and aunts never missed in the afternoons?

These productions featured a group of voice actors performing romantic dramas, comedies, and even thrilling cowboy-and-Indian adventures. Alongside them, sound effect specialists brought the stories to life through the microphones of radio stations.

Today, they appear under the name of audiobooks. Some platforms are limited to the voice of a single speaker reading with the precise intonation and acting according to the story the book that perhaps you cannot read due to lack of time. Others who benefit from audiobooks are blind people who can enjoy listening to books that they would not be able to enjoy if they were not in Braille.

The advantage of audiobooks is that they help the listener develop their imagination by imagining the scenes and spaces in which the plots unfold.

The first thing is to register on the one you choose according to your needs, although one of the most popular is Audible.com, from Amazon.

Enter the title of your work if you choose Audible from Amazon, they transfer all the data of the book in question, the next step is to choose the voice from the catalog of voices they have by performing a voice casting, and after you have found the voice that you consider most appropriate, a process of author-speaker relationship begins.


This is always done with the Amazon audiobook platform, which, if you decide to do it with another one, for example:

Sonolibro, on this platform several actors are used to do the different voices, staging the narration of the book.
